Rogan shows Bonnie an equation he’s named “Maths that stays” that is not only able to be written in thin air, but can be used to transport people from one part of the world to another with the aid of a point of reference. Rogan then proves this by taking Bonnie to Tuscany using nothing but some smoke like algorithms and a picture in his phone. Sadly, Bonnie’s grasp on reality is too tight and the trip ends with her going into a vegetated stupor for a few hours. This, unfortunately, appears to be the after effect of Maths travel for Bonnie, no matter how many trips she makes.
We then follow Bonnie’s adventures as she avoids Rogan’s initial advances, but finally gives in and goes to the Moon. Which turns out to be the hang out for Rogan and his ragtag group (an acronym for Made Out Of Nothing) that is a place that “doesn’t, according to current published scientific journals, exist”. Which Bonnie and her firm grasp on reality can cope with until it’s also described as “not in any actual physical location anywhere in known existence”. A quick trip to Belgium by Rogan for chocolates helps her mind adjust to this new science snippet.
While at the Moon, Bonnie meets other characters who make up the gang. All with odd food based nicknames. That is, except for Clara, who Bonnie meets during her first kiss with Rogan, and Clara introduces herself as his girlfriend. This is later proven untrue.
Bonnie finally accepts her new life with the gang from the Moon, including Clara, and starts to open her mind to the new concepts of science and maths she is learning on a daily basis. Such as hidden logic – which is the ability to create a door in any repetitive pattern on a vertical surface and use it to connect to the Moon from anywhere in the world.
As her acceptance for her new life blossoms, along with her and Rogan’s relationship, she hits the next hurdle in the adventure. This is Sylvester, a tall, good looking mad man who has the ability coerce people into doing his will. That is, until he meets Bonnie and is firmly put in his place by her own anger and stubborn ability to not only avoid his advances, but fight back.
What follows is a mad dash around the world for Bonnie and Rogan as they try to avoid Sylvester getting hold of Bonnie for his own nefarious means. Through Buenos Aires, London to a farm in the Adelaide Hills our team flees. Bonnie learns some of the reason Rogan is attracted to her, she is a coercive like Sylvester. She is, however, deemed one of the good guys.
Sylvester catches up with them and drags them back to the Moon demanding Rogan explain all its secrets. In the ensuing fight we learn how the Moon really came about, how it is held together and who Rogan really is, where he comes from and how old he actually is.
